Housing System

From The Chronicles of Jungalore Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

In Jungalore, a character may own their own home in whatever town/area they choose. These houses can be used to store items, craft, or keep familiars. This house can be customized to the player's liking, but certain things are only available after putting in the required materials.

Benefits[edit | edit source]

Housing offers a number of benefits and is a worthwhile investment. Some benefits require certain components, while others require simple installments. These benefits include...

  • Resting Bonuses
  • Free Use Crafting Stations
  • Item Storage
  • Marriage and Child Availability
  • Resurrection Spot (Same Effect as Reviving to Last Town)
  • Gathering Areas

Obtaining a Housing Deed[edit | edit source]

Houses require an initial purchase of a housing deed. These are limited to one per character, and do not use up an inventory spot. It reserves land on Jungalore for you to build on, gather on, and craft on, as well as invite fellow characters to. The housing deed can be purchased from any bank.

You may place your house just about anywhere. The only areas you cannot place your house at are as follows.

  • Special Areas (Castles, Temples, Guilds, etc.)
  • Dungeons
  • In the sky.
  • In the cursed oceans.
  • Underground (Except if making it in a mountain, such as through a cave.)
  • Underwater (Except if the player is a meridian or otherwise has the Swimming skill.)

Default Housing Styles[edit | edit source]

While the player is able to customize their house to their liking, they are encouraged to use any of the following styles as basic descriptors.

Dennic Style[edit | edit source]

Homes in Cita Den are built from spare parts from the engineering labs. A steampunk home for the scientific adventurer, or the aspiring blacksmith. They're not really meant for permanent living unless someone invests a lot into the building of the house.

Farmhouse/Demeter Style[edit | edit source]

The houses near the farmlands or in the town of Demeter are sturdy buildings, with a cobblestone foundation, wooden walls, and roofing of either hay or wood. They are good for those who like to be away from cities, but bandits may pose a problem depending on the area. Demeter homes in particular lack a cobblestone foundation, but tend to build upon tall trees.

Magic/Avalonian Style[edit | edit source]

This style is quite comfortable, with practical magics embedded for ease of access and navigation. Walls are made with bookshelves for storing tomes, grimoires, and even potions, and heating is no issue when the flow of fire elementals is capitalized on.

Old Cyndar/Fort Frenga Style[edit | edit source]

This house has european architecture and is a standard house type. It has a solid foundation and is made with brick, although wood is not too uncommon. It is homely, sturdy, and perfect for raising a family!

Selk Style[edit | edit source]

Since the ascension of the meridian throne by Queen Philena, the city of Selk has come under meridian rule. She sought not only to better the livelihood of her subjects, but to beautify the city. To the north of Selk is a quarry for marble, and with marble, beautiful buildings could be constructed. The white limestone still works well, but the overall aesthetic including white pillars and walls with orange roof tiles is a sight to behold.

Tal-Ari Style[edit | edit source]

These houses are made of limestone, or other carved stones. Very few of these are made from brick, and they allow for simple living. They're not so great for raising family, but they are often built with plenty of secure places for storing belongings. It's perfect for the nomadic adventurer who doesn't spend too much time in one place.

Underwater/Meridian Style[edit | edit source]

Meridian homes are made of the remains of giant sea snails, slain millions of years ago by something or other, or are carved out of the rock of their former underwater domain. Only meridians tend to purchase these homes, as other adventurers cannot usually swim down and survive long enough to reach the underwater housing. However, some have considered building homes of this style near the coast lines.

Velian Style[edit | edit source]

These homes have an oriental architecture and are built with wonderful designs. The doors on the best of these houses are ink paintings, and are quite beautiful. They also come with either hot springs or farmland, depending on the area the house is located.

Components[edit | edit source]

Components are parts of a house as well as various items within. Note that in the following lists, the prerequisites are not consumed, while the costs are. Further, unless it is listed as a requirement, Oak Wood can be used in place of other wood types except in the case of Redwood.
